In February 2018, Martha Stewart said that the “cakes-tortas” from Punta Arenas, Chile’s Cafe Inmigrante “are the thing!” She explained, “Made in a spotless and cheery small bakery attached to the back of the charming cafe these large very rich cakes are layered and layered with all sorts of ingredients- raspberries, cream filled napoleons , whipped cream, caramel, condensed milk, chocolate buttercream, bananas etc etc etc the bakers are happy and young and creative! The sandwiches are made by a cadre of young men and they are the savory equivalent!”
